About Area 49 Software

We love new technologies. We also love the fact that we get to dream up new ways of commercializing the technologies our neighbors at #51 keep reverse engineering "inventing".

On any given day (or the night of July 7, 1949 as it were), we never know what kind of stuff we're going to have to find commercial applications for. It took us 34 years, and 2 attempts to get the Macintosh technology to a commercial vendor. You can imagine our frustration with Xerox at their inability to get it right with the Alto. Don't even ask how long it took before Al Gore finally figured out what we were trying to tell him and then "invented" the Internet.

Then again, we're really happy with how the iPhone turned out.

So happy, as a matter of fact, that we've decided to pull together some really cool apps for it.

Stay tuned as we launch iPhone apps in the coming weeks and months. We hope you'll find them fun and useful. We'll try to keep them as down to earth as possible. And don't ask too many questions about Area 49 or some rather unpleasant folks might pay you a visit.

Just enjoy the "work product" as it were.
